Skyros astronomy courses offer the chance to step away from everyday life, look upwards, and explore the night sky with expert guidance in the beautiful surroundings of Atsitsa Bay.

Far from the light pollution of towns and cities, Atsitsa offers wonderfully dark skies and wide horizons. Our astronomy courses combine accessible teaching with practical observation, helping you recognise constellations, understand what you are seeing and develop a deeper sense of the scale and wonder of the universe.

Depending on the programme, sessions may explore the planets, stars, galaxies, the Moon, the changing night sky and the stories and science behind what we can see from Earth. There are opportunities to use telescopes and binoculars, with evening observation shaped by the weather and what is visible overhead.

You don’t need any previous knowledge of astronomy. Courses are designed to be engaging for curious beginners as well as those who already enjoy looking at the night sky and would like to understand more.

And astronomy at Skyros is about more than learning facts. There is something very special about gathering under a dark Greek sky, surrounded by sea and pine-covered hills, and taking the time to notice just how extraordinary the universe is.
