Mindful Mosaics Weekend with Julie Norburn
Join community artist Julie Norburn for a calming, hands-on weekend exploring the mindful art of mosaic. With over 30 years’ experience in community mosaics, and many summers teaching at Atsitsa in Skyros, Julie brings a relaxed, supportive approach that suits complete beginners as well as those wanting to deepen their technique.
Across the weekend, you’ll develop your own unique design, working closely with Julie to shape an idea that feels personal to you. You might arrive with a theme in mind – a door number, landscape, abstract pattern, animal or symbol – or simply come open-minded and let Julie guide you through the possibilities.
You’ll have a choice of bases, including wooden boards and shapes, ceramic bases and slate, along with an inspiring array of mosaic materials sourced from around the world. Julie will also bring Picassiette – broken crockery and reclaimed pieces – for anyone who enjoys working sustainably and creatively with found materials.
Expect a gentle, absorbing weekend of creativity, skills and technique, with plenty of space to switch off and enjoy the process. You’ll leave with a finished mosaic you’ll be proud to take home.
Materials: There will be a £30 materials contribution, payable directly to Julie.
