Frequently asked questions
1. Booking & Reservations
How do I reserve my place?
- To reserve your place, simply book with a deposit of £200 per holiday. Contact us, and we’ll discuss your requirements, or choose your holiday dates and book online by clicking here.
2. Who goes on a Skyros holiday?
Am I too old or too young to join a Skyros holiday?
- Skyros holidays welcome guests of all ages, from 5 to 85. Around 70% of our guests are aged between 35 and 65.
Is it okay to join a Skyros holiday on my own?
- The majority of our participants are solo travellers, and our holidays are designed with this in mind. You'll always be in good company if you come on your own. Of course, couples, friends, and families are also very welcome!
3. Courses & Activities
How do I choose my courses and activities?
- At the Skyros Centre, you can choose your masterclass in advance from the two main courses. You can also join morning yoga and afternoon music & arts classes during your stay – these classes are open to all. Masterclasses have limited availability, so book early!
- At Atsitsa, courses and activities are chosen once you're there. Courses are introduced to you at the start of your holiday, and you can sign up for your favourites. Step out of your comfort zone and try something new!
4. Travel
How do I get to Skyros Island in Greece?
- Please refer to each holiday page for detailed and relevant travel information. Skyros Island is a beautiful, unspoiled Greek island, free from the impact of mass tourism. There are very few direct international flights, and currently, no direct flights from the UK to Skyros.
Outbound:
- Arrive in Athens on the day before the first day of your holiday (Friday). Book our overland return transfer to Skyros island, including an overnight stay in Athens. Our transfer hotel is the Dorian Inn Hotel in Central Athens.
- If you would like this service, we can connect you with others on the same flight in advance so you can share transport to the transfer hotel.
Inbound:
- Fly home from Athens on the last day of your holiday (Saturday for a one-week holiday, or Friday for a fortnight).
- If you book our overland transfer to Athens airport, take any flight home departing from 3pm on Saturday and from 8pm on Friday.
- Please book your flights independently, as Skyros is not a flight provider.
- Do confirm your travel plans with us so we know when to expect you.
- For any questions, please email holidays@skyros.com or call 01983 865 566.
5. Holiday Prices
What's included in the holiday fees?
- At the Skyros Centre, the price includes half board, twin-shared accommodation in Skyros village, your chosen masterclass, and access to various additional classes, activities, and events.
- At Atsitsa, the price covers twin-shared accommodation, three meals per day, and a variety of courses and activities over four to five days per week, as well as evening activities and events.
6. Accommodation
What are my accommodation options?
- At the Skyros Centre, you can share a small twin-shared apartment at no extra charge, or upgrade to a single-occupancy room with its own bathroom.
- At Atsitsa Bay, most people choose to stay in simple, rustic huts in Atsitsa's gardens on a twin-shared basis, which is included in the holiday price. Alternatively, you can stay in the house for an additional supplement. Single hut and room upgrades may also be available for a supplement. We also offer single occupancy rooms at the Atsitsa Hotel, located next door to the Atsitsa holiday centre.
7. Beach Life
What are the beaches like?
- The Skyros Centre is located high up on the hillside of the village. Long, sandy beaches are a 10-minute walk away, though the return journey includes a steep climb.
- Atsitsa Bay boasts miles of stunning coastline, with secluded coves, inlets, and beaches to explore. The nearest swimming spot is just in front of the main house, accessed by steps. The nearest pebble beach is a 5-minute walk away, and the nearest sandy beach is a pleasant 20-minute walk. There are no swimming pools, but the bay is perfect for snorkelling and is usually very calm.
8. Families
Can I bring my children?
- Holidays at the Skyros Centre are for adults only.
- Children are welcome in Atsitsa Bay during the school holidays (AT4 to AT6). Childcare provision is available for those aged 5 to 15, and there are courses that older children can join, depending on the subject.
- Children aged 5 to 15 receive a 50% discount off the session fee. Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
9. Connectivity
Will I have access to the internet?
- There is WiFi at the Skyros Centre, and most cafes and bars in the village also have WiFi.
- Holidays in Atsitsa offer a perfect opportunity for a digital detox, as internet access is more limited. However, WiFi is available in the bar and dining area, and some mobile networks may be able to connect to a 3G signal.
Will my mobile phone work?
- At the Skyros Centre, mobile phone signals and 4G are available throughout the village.
- In Atsitsa, mobile coverage is limited and can be unreliable, although it improves every year. Mobile phones generally work in the village.
