Mindfulness Through Art with Ignacio Lalanne
Sun 7 - Sat 20 Jul 2024
Exploring Mindfulness through Expressive & Playful Art
We will explore together the fundamental concepts of the ancient practice of Sati, most commonly known as mindfulness through discussions, guided meditations, mindful movements and creating art. It does not matter if you don’t consider yourself an artist, or even especially creative. The course is all about process and exploration, rather than the final product and outcome.
We will use expressive and playful art to examine the extraordinary power found in observing and being aware of the present moment as it unfolds around us. We will practice to attend our immediate experience with kindness and compassion.
Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique, but also so much more than that. It can reduce stress and anxiety and spark creativity, but more broadly, it will give you a sense of presence in your life, enabling you to live your life more deeply and at ease in the mist of what it is.
You will learn foundational skills of mindful-living:
- root yourself in the present moment through guided meditations & body movements based in Qi-gong
- how working with breath and body awareness can transform stress and anxiety
- how to cope better with challenging thoughts and emotions
- greater concentration and focus
- art practice as a path to mindfulness

About Ignacio Lalanne
Ignacio grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In early adulthood, he travelled extensive in India, Japan and south-east Asia. Journeys that accelerated his visual exploration of what is hidden inside all of us. It was also then that his art expanded into meditation and a deeper exploration of spirituality.
Over the years he settled in London, gained a degree in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. He intensified his mindfulness practice, went on retreats and started volunteering and trained with Breathworks.
Ignacio is now a practising artist and an accredited mindfulness teacher in the UK. You can find his quirky studio in Bow Road, London. He also gives creative mindfulness courses there and in other venues such as Heatherley School of Fine Art, where he works.
