Holiday Facilitators: Tim Oconnor

skill, experience, warmth

Biography

Tim O'Connor has carved his own path and built a strong reputation as an indenpendent singer and songwriter and a great live perfomer. A Troubadour for the 21st century with an eclectic musical melting pot of songs. (Melodic, lyrical, Folky rock n roll) a cross cultural adventurer.

Tim's music is influenced by a myriad of musical styles woven into insightful, heartfelt contemporary yet age old sounding songs, drawing influence from The Beatles, Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash and traditional Irish Music.

Tim has worked with many wonderful musicians including the late great Martin Allcock (Fairport Convention, Robert Plant, Cat Stevens) and great fiddle player Andy Dinan and together released the album "Mancunia".

He has performed and recorded with Mike McGoldrick “Flute player with Mark Knopfler" Arty McGlynn and supported Richard Thompson, Daby Toure and Martin Stephenson among many others. Tim has performed at many clubs, theatres and festivals all over Europe in the States, Brazil and New Zealand. He has a very organic approach to music and has followed his own musical inspiration.

What people say about Tim and his courses:

"Really powerful songs" Mike Harding, "Great songs" Steve Coogan, "Tim is a great songwriter" Maartin Allcock

For me the music with Tim made it so special.

Inspirational, kind, extremely talented and generous with his time.

Absolutely loved Tim’s music course - learnt ukulele and co-wrote and performed two songs - music was everywhere all week.

Tim’s course was a joyful experience. He made it safe to take risks, experiment and grow as songwriters, singers and musicians, even as a novice in my case. This was a totally collaborative process out of which emerged beautiful and authentic songs, to feel truly proud of.

Tim - a lovely guy and a magician! Encouraged us all with his skill, humour, warmth, generosity of spirit and experience.

Singing was a fantastic collaborative effort and Tim put extra effort in on evening activities.
