Are you thinking about going on a Skyros Holiday this summer but put off by the task of arranging your own flights and transfers?
After just completing the journey myself for the first time, I wanted to tell you it is not as bad as you may think!
The first step
You will want to first check with us in the office that we can accommodate you on the holiday – most of our remaining holidays do still have places. If I could, I would be returning as it truly is a spectacular experience.
What's next?
The next step is to think about how you will reach Skyros Island.
Most of our participants will fly to Athens the day before the holiday begins (Friday). You will then stay overnight in Athens in our transfer hotel, usually the Dorian Inn. It is a wonderful hotel, with a rooftop pool and bar that looks out to the Acropolis.
I urge you to make sure that you flight arrives into Athens before 19:45, as then you will be able to catch our courtesy coach to the Dorian Inn.
Aegean Airways. London Heathrow. Departure 12:15. Arrival 17:50
British Airways. London Heathrow. Departure 13.15. Arrival 18:55
Aegean Airways. Manchester. Departure 11.30. Arrival 17.15
Wait, but now I'm stranded in Athens!
At Skyros Holidays, our aim is to aid you in anyway possible that we can, to make getting to Skyros Island as easy and stress free as possible.
The following day you will begin the journey from Athens to Skyros Island. Majority of our participants will take the domestic flight to Skyros at 12:55 on Saturdays. It is a small plane of 70 seats, and so it does tend to sell out fast.
So now that you have booked your domestic flight to Skyros, you are probably wondering how an earth you will get back to Athens airport. We provide a coach transfer back in good time for you to catch your onward flight.
Enjoy the flight, it is over before you know it! Just enough time to have a snack and a drink. Once you land on Skyros Island, we can transfer you to your chosen center.
What not to do if the flight to Skyros are sold out!
Do not panic! If the flights are sold out, we will put an overland transfer in place to take your from the Dorian inn to Skyros Island.
Your journey begins by coach and will take approximately three hours to reach the port of Kymi. Here you will disembark the coah and take the Kymi ferry to Skyros Island (approx 1hr 40 mins).Once you arrive in the port of Linaria, you will be met by Skyros staff who will transfer you to your chosen destination.
Travelling home is just as easy
As sad as is is to think about the end of your holiday before you have even arrived, it is good to have a plan in place! It is much simpler, as it is just doing the journey out in reverse (minus an overnight stay in Athens).
You will either catch the domestic flight or you will use our overland transfer to Athens. Once you reach Athens airport you will catch your connecting flight home. If you catch the flight we recommend booking a flight after 19.00 to alllow time to check-in. OR if you are on the oveland transfer we recommend booking a flight after 15.00 to alllow time to check-in.
