Fantastic Winter Destinations coming up!

The Greece season is now over and we have received some absolutely amazing feedback from our 2015 participants. We would first like to say thank you to all of our participants, facilitators and staff who have made this season so special. There are still plenty of opportunities to join Skyros-Around-The-World! We love to take our fantastic courses to inspirational destinations, so check out some of the amazing places you can visit. You can also join us for a weekend taster session weekends at The Grange by The Sea on the Isle of Wight.

Venice - 24 - 28 October 2015

From morning strolls by the canal or sipping espresso in Piazza San Marco to acquiring a taste for Italian opera, this stylish holiday will ensure you bring back unforgettable memories from this seductive city of culture. To walk down Venice's traffic-free streets, or to take a vaporetto water bus, is to be swept off your feet in a romantic world of endless canals, stunning architecture, piazzas and characteristic Venetian bridges. The mix of activities make for the perfect cultural break.

Marrakech - 14 - 19 November 2015

Marrakech is Morocco's fourth largest city and is known as the 'red city' due its blush coloured walls. Explore the colourful souks piled high with gilmmering lamps, bright spices, rugs and leather. Retire to the oasis of your Riad - stylishly decorated and ornate rooms topped with sun terraces in the heart of the medina. Be inspired by your surroundings and craft your own journal with artist Sarah Livingstone.

Cuba - 15 - 25 February 2016

Havana, a UNESCO World heritage site, is one of the oldest, grandest and safest cities in the Americas. The high concentration of museums and galleries, the stunning vibrancy of Cuban music and dance and the charismatic Habaneros  give the city a unique cultural punch. Havana is the perfect place to learn Cuba's national dance - Salsa. Classes are facilitated by a top dance tutor and each participants ha sa local Cuban dance partner to mentor progress and ensure a high quality learning experience.

Thailand - 17 - 28 January 2016

Skyros-in-Thailand is based on the magical island of Koh Samed 200km southeast of Bangkok and part of the beautiful Koh Samed National Park. Located on an idyllic white sand beach, the resort offers tranquility and relaxation. Yet, with just a short walk to the other end of the bay, you can enjoy cafes and beach restaurants, or take a truck taxi for shopping, nightlife and dancing. Here you can completely unwind, enjoy the sunshine, the Skyros courses and the world-renowned Thai cuisine.

Trinidad - 10 - 19 April 2016

April in Grand Riviere, Trinidad, marks one of the most important events in the world's eco-calendar. At your beach-front hotel, amidst rainforests with rare endangered species, see the colossal Leatherback turtles nest right in front of your room on what is said to be the largest Leatherback nesting beach in the Western Hemisphere. By day, work with Skyros co-founder Dr Dina Glouberman or Trinidadian born critically-acclaimed Monique Roffey. By night, witness the miraculous nesting of these ancient survivors from the time of the dinosaurs. Unmissable.

Isle of Wight - September - January 2016 onwards

The Grange, a beautiful Georgian country house, is in the charming Old Village of Shanklin on the east ocast of the Isle of Wight. Nestled in greenery, it is very secluded. Yet it's only moments from the picturesque thatched pubs and cosy tea rooms, local train station, shops and restaurants and, best of all, the long sandy beach. You can certainly take it easy here - relax, sleep deeply, enjoy a meandering walk down to the beach and breathe in the fresh sea air.

Art from the Heart - Stoney Parsons - Friday 9 - Sunday 11 October 2015

Alison Goldie's book, 'The Improv Book', has been published!

Alison, theatre-maker, writer and expert group-leader, has just had her theatre technique book published. Here are some of the fantastic comments about her new book:

‘In a world where imagination seems to be fighting a losing battle against technology, Alison Goldie has come up with a brilliant and easy-to-follow guide to putting people back in touch with this essential part of their creative minds. A beautifully written handbook to one of the simplest yet most misunderstood performing arts by one of the UK’s most experienced performers. This book is a brilliant addition to any performer’s library and useful to educators, performers, the business community and fascinated bystanders. This book should be on the bloody national curriculum!’
Phil Jupitus, comedian
‘It's useful to be able to control yourself sometimes, and it's dreadful when it becomes a habit. The Improv Book is a treasure chest of ways to bring more zest, surprise and depth back into your life – and into the lives of your students, your employees, your children, your parents and anyone else who might need it. It's really very good. I just made that up. But it's true.’
Guy Claxton, author of What's the Point of School? and Building Learning Power

Skyros co-founder Dina Glouberman's new book launched:  You Are What You Imagine
